I am glad that Rollie only had to make 58 saves…

All I can say is:

HOLY CRAP!

I did not get to see the game, as I was coming home from work at around 9PM.  I had to listen to the Toronto broadcasters go crazy about the goaltending of Roloson, as well as the firepower that the Leafs displayed.

There was a five minute piece of the second where the Isles were just so powerful, thanks to Tamby, Moulson, and Bergie.  Once Gordon called the timeout, I thought the team would just stick to their game, keep their emotions, and move on.

Whoops.

Three goals in the second and third, and then the shooting gallery onslaught, caused my intestines to turn a little.

All the Toronto radio presenters could say was,

58 SHOTS!  58 SHOTS!

And yes – they got three more.

When they had 58, we had 20.

We got one more.

GAME OVER! – thanks Josh!

Now – they get the chance to sleep in their OWN beds, and get ready for the Flyers tomorrow.  I am sure it will be an interesting game for Marty Biron, as he goes against his former teammates for the first time.

I hope that the crowd will not only be big, but noisy and boisterous!  This team deserves it!

For JT – going to Toronto was not the most exciting homecoming for him, but for Matt Moulson – getting a taste of playing in front of a ‘home’ crowd, and getting the second goal of the game.

Coming home from this trip at 3-2-2, is better than most had expected.  8 out of a possible 14 points keeps them up with the rest of the division.  This team is far from the embarassment that everyone figued that they would be.  (Well – not me).

Anyway -have an excellent Thanksgiving!  I hope that you enjoy this time with family and friends and take a moment to remember the goosd things that you ar thankful for.  As this is the first time, that I will not get to talk to my Mom, at this holiday, I will be thankful for the special times that my Mom and I had.  As she was the biggest and staunchest Met fan I know – I memorialized that with a brick that will be permanently displayed at Citi Field.  Here is a picture of the brick.

Again – have a great holiday!

Rollie defied even the word, awesome. I agree with Billy Jaffe's repeated statement that he was the real reason why the Isles won that game. The Islanders had 9 shots in the first period, but mustered only 11 over the next two periods and the single, game-winner by Bailey in the OT. On the other hand, the Leafs had a 20 shot first, 15 shot second and a 23 shot third period with 3 more coming in the OT. I'm sorry, but as much as I am glad for the 2 points in the standings and a win is a win, but this left a bad taste in my mouth.

The trend of blowing leads has been troubling enough for me, but we were basically spanked offensively during the second and third periods. Without Rollie, that could have been an embarrassing disaster. Let us hope the boys tighten up quite a bit for the Flyer game tonight.

Happy turkey day to all, and besides giving thanks for all the good things and blessings we have, please take a moment to remember our heroes, both alive and the fallen, those who serve in our military. They have protected our freedom over the last 233 years, and we often forget the sacrifices they and their families have made for us. God bless them all.
