So Long Parky and other Islander musings

Richard Park has signed with a team in Switzerland this season, and will not be an Islander for 2010-11.  The former Nystrom Award Winner alwys displayed himself as a classy person and always seemed to play his heart out.  A typical player of not the highest level of talent, but the highest amount of desire.  Park was a great influence on the younger players, and that, I believe will be missed more than anything else.

Congrats to #5 Denis Potvin for his new assignment as the color analyst for the Ottawa Senators.  He did not get the job for his old team, but he got the job for his home town.

By the numbers.  Some changes for this season.  Robbie Schremp will go from 13 to 44.  Matt Martin, expecting a good chance to crack the lineup will get number 17.  The new players will be as follows:  Mark Eaton will have number 4, Zenon Konopka will have number 28 with Milan Urcina will have one number less at 27.  James Wisniewski will don the 20 jersey.  PA Parenteau will have #15 on his back this season.

As many know, a great deal of the players are back on the ice at Ice Works with nearly a full week before camp is actually beginning.  What does that mean?  Simply, the guys are looking forward to working together and want to do whatever is necessary to win.  I, for one, am ALWAYS the optimist.  I will always look at the glass not only half full, but overflowing.  This season, I really feel that this team is ready to go hunt some bear, and expect a large movement upward in the expectations of this club.

Camp is coming…. get pumped, Islander fans!
