I just look at the movie Network, when network presenter Howard Beel, made his famous speech.
It is time for the Isles to get some images of anger and emotion in. It is not that they are not playing with it – it does not show. The last minute of the 6-1 loss to Philly last night – when Briere did that slash onto the face of Frans Nielsen – it enraged the Isles, especially one Rick DiPietro – who had a clunker of the game to say the least. The Pink pads were not good luck at all.
Offensively – the Isles had their chances, but Philly goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was up to the challenge, making some spectualr saves on some Isles opportunities, especially on Josh Bailey early in the game, that may have been a momentum changer.
Defensively, the Isles just looked plain flat. Of course, power plays to defend from all directions were a deterrent to the Isles as well.
Well – one week from now – the Isles get to repay the favor to the Flyers when they invade Uniondale. But first, the Isles go off on two more road games. Carolina and Ottawa are their next destinations. The Isles need to get a chance in their attitude. They need to get peeved and that starts with the coaching staff.
Manbe Scott Gordon needs to get his Howard Beel mask on.
