It has been 40 years…. Wow – time flies.
The New York Islanders are celebrating their 40 th season in the NHL this year, and they are going to have some special evenings for us to celebrate.
The first is the four theme nights which will celebrate the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s. For each event, there will be a new member that will be enshrined to the Islanders Hall of Fame. Ed Westfall, Ken Morrow, Patrick Flatley, and Kenny Jonsson, will be the enshrinees. I know that many will be upset that John Tonelli did not get the nod. I expected that – but hey, Kenny is not a bad one either.
There are going to be a lot more exciting events being planned for this season. I saw a picture of the folks drawing the logo on the ice. It will be nice to celebrate something about the Islanders after the summer of disappointment. We have to stay positive and hope for great things for the young team, as they will be getting ready for some serious puck in the next weeks and months.
On a housekeeping note – dont forget the Islanders PREVIEW post, which will be on Sunday, October 18th. We will get in-depth about the teams status from April to now, who we got and lost; who will surprise, and who will shine. We will also predict where we will end up, so you can compare us from October to April. We hope it will be something that you will look back at all season long….
Keep tuned to Eyes on Isles for all of the Latest Islander Happenings…
