Isles head to Boston looking for first road win

And so the sojurn begins.

The 0-2-1 record on the road, is not going to help this team make a playoff push.  The need to win away from the Coliseum, and tonight in Boston, these Islanders get the chance.

The Bruins – currently tied with the Islanders for 14th and 15th in the conference with 10 points, are coming off a 7-0 whitewhasing of the Toronto Maple Leafs at the ACC on Saturday night

The mystique of the cup victory has long since gone away for Boston, who are struggling in net, struggling on D, and are not getting the big goals (well – except Saturday).  Both of these teams will be looking to build on the efforts they posted 48 hours ago.

For Islander fans – this will be the ONLY game that the Isles are on national TV, with Versus covering the game.  Mike Milbury will be providing the color commentary (note the word color), and should be interesting to see what he says about his former team.

For the Isles to win – they need to get another good performance from Rick DiPietro (he should be in net – at his old home).  He has been not great, but not bad either.  He has average NHL numbers, but has not been a negative to his team.  Montoya should get the start in Colorado later in the week.

For the offensive, the secondary scoring is vital to the team’s success.  The Boston boys in the lineup should be pumped to performed in front of friends and family.  Now – the top line needs to get going to; especially Matt Moulson.  PA Parenteau has upped his game with his move to line two.  If he is yapping, he is doing his job.  I am voting for Matt Martin – for the unexpected player of the year award.  He has his passion level at such a high level, and expect to see more good things from this player.

I am hoping for a good battle, and two points for the visitors.  However, Boston will be desperate to get two points to climb back to respectability.  Look for a rough and tumble match tonight.

Have a great day, and we will talk about the result tomorrow.
