How can they make a building plan - and not have the Islanders are part of it? Especially when the owner would have built it himself and no taxpayer assistance? FOOLS! Photo courtesy of G. Harding

Tomorrow, the Nassau Coliseum Legislature is meeting to discuss the possibility of building a new HUB in the area where the Nassau Coliseum exists.

That is all nice.  However, these are for plans that are being drawn up that are missing one important piece to the future of this area:

How can you not have the major tenant in this area involved in this?  How can you just try to get this movement going without the biggest revenue generator involved at all?

For those you not a part of Islander country that are swinging by this article, here is a link to the article in Newsday that talk about this meeting:

Charles Wang had an original plan that would have been looking for taxpayer assistance, and that was quickly shut down.  Then they had an idea,  that they would have built the whole thing, and with the help of politicians wanting a piece of the pie, neighborhood people doing a “Not in my backyard” pose, and people thinking that they were going to get major tax increases, the vote in August was defeated.

Now – another one of these wonderful meetings – where politicians strut their selves, and will dance around the issue that the player(Islanders) should be there, the one that needs to be involved in issues regarding the home of the major tenant of the building since its inception is missing.  In my honest opinion, the plans were great, and idea was fantastic, but since it was NOT theirs, they had to not like it, and since they would not be making money to cover their massive debts, it was considered bad in the interest of Long Island.

As Colonel Potter in the great TV show M*A*S*H would say,

I am going to the meeting tomorrow, and will talk about it.  And also – Happy Valentine’s Day to all.  Tomorrow is my Anniversary as well, so I may not write, if you know what I mean… Nudge, Nudge….
