That moment we have been waiting nearly six months for has arrived! It’s Islanders home opener night!nTonight, the Islanders (1-0-0) take on the Columbus Blue Jackets (0-1-0) in the first battle of Metropolitan Division rivals. This will be the first of four meetings between the two clubs.

The Isles will look to build upon a wonderful offensive effort by Michael Grabner and solid start by Evgeni Nabokov.

The Blue Jackets retooled a bit this winter and signed their franchise goalie Sergei Bobrovsky to a multi-year extension.

The Islanders will be going with the same lineup as last night. Nabokov will start in goal and Matt Donovan will get the nod on D, as Griffin Reinhart once again watches from the press box.

This will be a bit of a homecoming for former Islander draft pick Blake Comeau, as well former Isles defenseman James Wisniewski. Both will be in the lineup tonight for Columbus. The Jackets are coming off of a season opening 4-3 loss to the Calgary Flames.

The crowd will be raucous and ready to be the 7th man that propelled the Isles to ultra competitive games against the heavily favored Penguins in the playoffs.
