A grassroots social media event has created a phenomenon over the last few days. As many of you already know, the Islanders play their crosstown rival New York Rangers this upcoming Tuesday, October 29th.
The request through Twitter is that all Islanders fans who will be in attendance need to bring their playoff towels from Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Pittsbrugh Penguins.
It has been dubbed “Take Back The Barn”.
In the past, Rangers fans have been able to generate strong, loud, and passionate crowds in Nassau Coliseum. The message here is to not only silence the visiting fans but as Islanders fans come loud and prepare to boost the energy of our team.
Of course, either the blue or orange towel is acceptable. And if you weren’t fortunate enough to catch a playoff game in the Coliseum last year, any towel or prop given to you at an Islanders game in years prior is encouraged.
Come on Islanders fans, let’s see what you’ve got, literally! Let’s show the Rangers fans how to properly rock The old barn and make it sound exactly like we all fondly remember from May of 2013.
It’s time to get behind our team and truly give them the support of the seventh man.
