The Islanders are nearly finished with their extended vacation, much like the rest of us (sigh). The Islanders, who have not played since December 23rd, take on the New Jersey Devils tomorrow night on home ice.

The Islanders have been on a bit of an uptick as of late, recording points in 3 of their last 4 points, including a 3-0 shutout victory against the Detroit Red Wings. The Islanders will have their work cut out for them, however, as their next four games are against formidable opponents in the aforementioned Devils, Minnesota Wild, Boston Bruins, and the defending champions, the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Islanders are showing faint signs of life, and these upcoming four games will really test the capability of this Islanders team.

In other news (we’ve already beaten it to death, but it’s still noteworthy), the Islanders are rumored to be frontrunners for Montreal Canadiens winger Max Pacioretty. While the deal itself does seem a bit far-fetched, Pacioretty would be a huge addition to the Islanders, and really help solidify the offense, whether he’d be playing in the top six or on the Islanders’ 3rd line.

So with that, we can all look forward to a Saturday Night home game, one of my favorite occasions. This will probably be the Islanders’ easiest opponent in the next few games, so hopefully they can keep their momentum going for when they walk into Minnesota on the 29th.
