It’s Islanders game day again! After an exciting comeback win in Dallas, the Isles have set a couple season records for themselves, including: first four game-win streak and the first team in the NHL to win seven straight road games. As exciting as this news is for the team and fans alike, there is still a lot of work to be done as the Isles still sit eight points out of a playoff spot.

Let’s take a look at the previous 10 games of the Islanders schedule. In those 10 games, the Islanders are 8-2-0. In those games, Islanders goaltenders have posted a .924 save percentage (up significantly from their .897 SV% for the season), the penalty kill has allowed 4 goals on 24 attempts (83.33% on the PK), and for the fans of advanced stats fans, a PDO of 104.7. The team has been playing at a much higher level than earlier in the season and at a level teams across the League has noticed. With contributions most notably from the top line of John Tavares, Kyle Okposo, and Thomas Vanek, the Islanders have gotten the scoring spark they’ve been seeking for the past month, and a complete team effort has brought a resurgence to Long Island (and the road).

Tonight, the Islanders continue their road trip with a visit to the Sunshine State when they take on the Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Florida. They look to extend their League-leading seven game win streak before travleing north in Florida to Tampa, then completing their trip with a home & home against the Philadelphia Flyers.
