The New York Islanders ended their season on a six-game win streak. A silver lining to the end of a disappointing season.

Since the New York Islanders were already eliminated Sunday’s game was certainly lacking that intense vibe. It was a more somber tone as the Isles took the ice with only their pride left to play for.

The silver lining was how they ended this season, going out with a six-game win streak is rather impressive considering that they were playing without their best player in John Tavares.

There were some milestones hit during the action today. Both Brock Nelson and Jason Chimera scored their 20th goal of the season.

For Brock this was his best statistical year (points wise) but he left Isles fans frustrated and wanting more. He spends too many nights missing in action while displaying his impressive wrist shot on only rare occasions.

Chimera overachieved in my eyes. Sure he matched his goal total from last year, but I was expecting Chimmer to be a fourth-line grinder type. He was a huge upgrade from Matt Martin (as much as I loved Matty).

So those two got their 20th goals of the year while the team ended their season on a hot note. Missing the playoffs burns but at least they can hold their heads high as the team fought tough down the stretch.
