New York Islanders noted chase of Colorado Avalanche forward Matt Duchene heats up as both the NHL Expansion Draft and the NHL Entry Draft loom. And now Wikipedia nuts are getting involved.

Somedays it feels like New York Islanders fans are at peak Matt Duchene frenzy. Where it just doesn’t seem like people’s appeal for a deal could get any higher. And then someone gets creative on Wikipedia.

Wikipedia is never a reliable source of information. Anything can be uploaded and put up there, at least for the briefest of moments. For those of you just going to University or College this summer. Let me give you a heads up: don’t ever source it as fact on a paper.

Unless your paper is a bit piece and said Wikipedia quote is absolutely hilarious. Like what happened with Matt Duchene’s Wikipedia page earlier on June 14th.

The entry has since been removed, but at one point it read:

"On June 12, 2017, the New York Islanders traded Thomas Hickey, Bracken Kearns and the right to speak to Jack Capuano for Matt Duchene."

The trade proposal starts on a right note with the New York Islanders sending a good defender Colorado’s way, before it quickly devolves to the absurd and hilarious.

And even then, Hickey’s a good defender and all but as the cornerstone for a Duchene trade? I guess who knows right? Imagine being the person who proposed a Taylor Hall-Adam Larsson trade two years ago?

Imagine how that sit down between Colorado Avalanche GM Joe Sakic and Jack Capuano go?

Joe Sakic: “Hey Jack. Big fan. We already have a coach but we just wanted to pick your brain on how we could better this hockey club. Like, how do we better our power play?”

Jack Capuano: “…Uhhh. You sure you got tha’ right guy? You see my powe’ play numbers last year? I was operatin’ at 14%.”

Joe Sakic: ” Right. Well, that’s still better than our 12.6%. So that’s a plus. What would you say your philosophy is? What’s the “Jack Capuano Way”?”

Jack Capuano: “Hit everything on skates and always default to veterans.”

Joe: “You had me at I don’t like kids”

Whoever was the anonymous Wikipedia hack, high five. That was some top-notch comedy you produced. It didn’t help quell any of the angst associated with Duchene’s possible move to the Isles, but it sure made it fun.
