Potvin, who has been a regular contributor on XM Satellite Radio, and the NHL network, will probably remain in those dual positions.

OTHER NOTES

Aren’t you so glad that “AMAZING ANDY” Hilbert returns to the Isles? Seriously, he will be an injury replacement.

A lot of talk in Islander nation that we are looking at Niemi…. Not a chance. We are going to war with Ricky and Rollie.

Why is Garth not making moves? Why isn’t any other GM’s. It is the famous poker game where you don’t want to show your hand so quickly.

NJ is back in negotiations with Kovalchuk. Good luck!

We still have about 24 million or so to spend….

Less than a month until camp… Getting excited by the second. BTW – if you are looking for Islander tickets, the Booster Club will have a group outing for the opening night. Tune to here, or check out the NYI Booster Club Page on Facebook, or www.nyiboosterclub.org.

Well, Freddy Meyer has found a new home. After the Isles chose not to offer him a contract, the Atlanta Thrashers have done so. I believe it is a one year deal, though I did not see the terms written anywhere as of yet.

Freddy, to me, did a great job during his time on the Long Island. He might not be a top 2 or even a top 4 defenseman, but he used his skills and talents well enough. Not the biggest guy in the world, he still was a physical back liner, and was not afraid to play the body. He got the job done, and he truly did what was asked of him with class and professionalism. I wish him the best of luck in Hotlanta.

Now, as for Andy Hilbert, I find this rather interesting. Things simply didn’t work for him the last time he played for the Isles. His ability to score goals was shown in the past, yet he just couldn’t put it together during his time here. Perhaps, the second time is the charm?
