Another 2 points in the standings!

It wasn’t pretty nor the best game for the Isles, but in the end, they managed, again, to earn the 2 points in the shoot out, thanks to Rob Schremp and Matt Moulson. Unfortunately, I was not in a situation in which I could catch a great deal of the game, so I will only summarize what I’ve read and was told.

Although the Islanders ended up with a 36-34 advantage in shots over the Panthers, they were badly out played in the first period. Roloson came up big several times, and Florida finally broke through in the second period on a goal by Nathan Horton. However, after receiving a pass from Dustin Kohn, who was called up to replace the suspended, Andy Sutton, Blake Comeau tied the game with his 6th goal of the season in the third period with a hard slap shot that beat Tomas Vokoun.

In the overtime, Blake Comeau received a questionable slashing penalty that led to Florida having a 4 on 3 power play. The combination of Dwayne Roloson, Frans Nielsen, Jack Hillen and Bruno Gervais kept the game knotted at 1 and to reach the shoot out. It also must be noted that earlier on, a rather blatant crosscheck to Kyle Okposo was missed by the officials right after the Islanders had killed off a penalty.

In any event, Matt Moulson got the game winner in the shoot out, and the Isles move up to 54 points in the Eastern Conference standings. Nice job, boys!
