Good News, Bad News and Worse News

Good news – the Isles stopped Ovie’s 9 game point scoring streak, keeping him off the sheet, despite have 10 shots on net.  That is good news, and a good job by the boys.

Bad News – Alex Semin and the rest of his mates, including former Isles D-man John Erskine (OISK!), slapped the Isles around and got 7 goals on the Rollie/DP combo for the 7-2 win last night.

Worse News – Jack Hillen, who left a great deal of blood on the Coliseum ice after getting an Ovie slapper to the face, is still in the hospital after having surgery to put some plates in his face, as a result of a broken jaw.  He is out 6-8 weeks at the earliest.  Although 3 of them everyone is out – it still is such a devastating loss.

Jack has been a great surprise in the way that he holds himself, despite his size.  He brings up the puck so smartly, and he can be trusted to come in an pinch, as well as get back to D, in case of a rush the other way.

Dustin Kohn has been called up to take the spot, but Hillen’s minutes will be quite tough to replace.  I hope he gets better soon, but these types of injuries – you side on caution, and I am sure it will more towards the 8 than that of the 6.  Especially since he has a bunch of plates inserted.

Hope he likes shakes….

As far as the rest of the team, the Caps not only wanted it – but took it to the Isles BIG TIME!

No plusses on this team, except Okie continues to put pucks to the net.

Now off to the road – Carolina on Thursday, Philly Saturday afternoon, Florida Sunday afternoon and Tampa Bay next week, before seeing Carolina back to Uniondale on the 6th.

Panther game against the Pro Bowl….. What a choice?
