A least we got a point

By Gary Harding

Finally… Getting a 1 in the point total.  It has been a while.

Was it just me – or was this game a major snore fest in the first period (before the PP that ended the stanza)?

Got to get those baby steps back, and take the positive out of getting the point, and making it to the shootout.  In the case of this team, you still want to finish strong, despite where they sit, as well as the potential windfall come the end of the June.

Plusses on this game. ..

I just love watching Hillen skate up with the puck.  There is just so much confidence in his look, and he seems to possess the ability of an all-star rather than a first ‘full year’ player.

Although he did not figure into the scoring, I am seeing some signs of life in JT.  There were some brilliant moments, with inane skill possessed by him, but also some rather inept moments too.  This is basically a 19 year old playing with some giants.  He will get on his horse and improve the strength and intangibles that he really did not need to have, thanks to his hockey sense.

Nothing else needs to be said.

Tomorrow – the Devils again.  Tonight they play the Pens in a BIG matchup.  Hopefully the emotion of that game will spill less to ours.  Then – you have to pounce on that.  And hopefully – the Isles play a ’60 minute’ game.  BTW – check out www.viewfromsection317.com for my period by period blog of the game.

Sunday – the Leafs in for a 5PM matinee.  The Leafs are closing in on us, and should be a good contest.

Then the West Coast trip – which I will be on and reporting from.

Have a great day and a great weekend!
