A good win – and a good day at the park

By Gary Harding

With the news of Rob Schremp out two to four weeks with a back injury, the last two good days before the announcement need to be savored.

First – the 2-1 victory against the Devils.

The plusess:  1.  Blake Comeau has some set of hands.  His confidence is brewing over the top of the cup, and with the injury front increasing – his number will be called on even more.  Remember a year ago?  Many thought he would be in the dog house….   He gets it!

2.  James Wisniewski – although he did not fit into the scoring, I really like his composure.  I really kept an extra eye on him when he was on the ice, and I really see a ‘calm and cool’ aura about him.  It will not replace the loss of Streit, but he will help, I am sure of that.

3.  Ricky – of course – the jury will continue to be out on him for a while, but at least he showed that he can be hopefully back to his form of a few year prior.  There were a couple of instances where you thought he was totally back, when he was doing his ‘walkabouts’, but his side-to-side movements looked crisp, and he was not as animated, as we have seen in the past.  A good sign.  I truly believe that he and Rollie will tandem for a while, to get both of their feet wet, before leaning on number 39.

Kudos to Jeremy Yablonski  for kicking some Hab arse the other night in Quebec City.  Nino should be ok – but he made sure that the Canadiens paid a steep price for Mike Cammilleri’s abuse of our 18 year old star in the making.

To Sunday at Adventureland.  Another great opportunity to see the team, get an autograph, wish them well, and get pumped with the guys for the season.  A donation to the Children’s Foundation got you into the park (season ticket holders got in early), and can ride the rides, play the games, and be a part of the fun.

Five days to the season opener and the Dallas Stars (without Mike Modano) come a calling.  Time to get practices going and getting the boys ready for war.

I am ready… Are you?
