Opening Night – Period 2

Taveras did not come out for the start of the period – no info as of yet.  This is definitely not the start that we needed.

Moulson hits the post.  Isles seem to be showing some umph and some acceleration with their skates.  But the Isles had too many men on the ice.  Back to the kill.

Great move by Bailey – pushes the puck away from two Dallas men – gets a breakaway and just misses glove side.  Isles have a lot of jump – that is the concensus of the blog boxers here tonight.

Weight gets clipped in the face – but the referee calls a hook.  Maybe this is metric system referee calling….

WELCOME TO THE ISLAND, WIZ!  WITH A BLAST FROM THE POINT! 2-1 DALLAS.  It’s a power play goal!

Isles playing a much more purposeful period.  I guess Coach Gordon gave some choice words.

Morrow – on a PA Parenteau turnover – and the Stars now up 3-1

Seconds later – the Isles get on the power play again.  Isles on their 3rd power play.  Announced attendance 13,351.

Another penalty by Steve Ott, gives the Isles 96 seconds of 5 on 3 = DOUG WEIGHT – capitalizes on the 5 on 3 – Isles still have over a minute of 5 on 4 now – 3-2 Dallas.  Isles did not capitalize on that one – but the crowd just got some instant energy.

Isles played a much better period – a lot of intensity – a great deal of energy.  Need to see more of that in period 3.
