James Wisniewski Gets a 2 Game Suspension for His Rude Gesture …

By John Panarese

OK, so let me get this straight now …. Niklas Hjalmarsson of the Chicago Black Hawks received a 2 game suspension for an illegal hit from behind on Jason Pominville of the Buffalo Sabers, Michael Cammalleri of the Montreal Canadians was handed a 1 game suspension for his vicious slash and hit on Nino Niederreiter, and James Wisniewski was given a 2 game suspension for a “rude gesture” directed at Sean Avery. Is it me or is there something wrong with this picture? Can anyone say … Inconsistency? ….

I think enough has been said and written about this incident over the last day as it is. I doubt I can add anything any more insightful. All I will say is to repeat my assertion that the NHL needs to get their business in order and replace Colin Cambell. Oh, and Wisniewski Rocks in my book …

From what I have read, it appears that Jack Hillen will be replacing Wisniewski tonight in Washington. It’s unfortunate that he has not been a part of the six playing on defense from opening night, but Jack now has his chance to step in and make a statement.

By the way, I don’t know if anyone caught the beginning of the home opener for the Los Angeles Kings game against the Atlanta Thrashers last night. The lead guitarist from Guns N’ Roses fame, Slash, played the national anthem. It’s a reflection on my 80’s rock days, but it was pretty impressive to me.
