Matt Martin is Recalled from the Port as the Isles Go into Montreal

By John Panarese

With Michael Grabner not making the trip to Montreal and an injury to Trent Hunter, Matt Martin was recalled from Bridgeport and will play in his first game for the Islanders tomorrow in Montreal. Martin is a guy I believe will eventually be a permanent part of the team, so it will be interesting to see how he does in his first game with the “big club”. The Islanders then face these same Canadians on Friday evening back at the NVMC, though I will not be surprised if Grabner is back in the lineup for that contest.

As reported by Chris Botta of Islanders Point Blank, Rob Schremp practiced with the team today for the first time since his back injury in training camp during a preseason game. However, I would not count on his return to the lineup until the first or second week of November.

Let’s hope that the boys can get back to their winning ways on Wednesday. With a bit of practice time, hopefully, the “bad habits” Scott Gordon has observed the team had been showing over the last few games will be broken. There needs to be a solid, consistent 60 minute game for their effort, and they need to play with the hard work and persistence that has defined a Scott Gordon team. Stay hard on the forecheck, and continue to play with the “no quit” mentality, boys! The Habs have been playing well, so these two games will not be easy.
