Thanks for the great job AMAC!

By Gary Harding

As reported, Andrew MacDonald is now out for the season, as he will have surgery on his torn labrum.  This is the third defenseman for the Islanders that has had labrum sugery this season.  Do you think they can get a volume discount?

The Isles were 1-13-1 this season without him in the lineup this season with a broken hand.  Of course, this was during the time that the Isles had only won 1 in 21 games.  But it has to be a point that should be put into consideration as to his value to the team.

It was determined that the medical staff felt that it would be better to have the surgery now, and begin his rehab immediately, so that come September when camp begins once again – he will be ready to be at 100%.

I know that I can speak for Islander fans, by saying thanks to #47 for his great effort this season.  And once again, thanks to Ted Nolan for suggesting to Garth Snow to draft his former junior player.  No one could  have forseen the transformation of this man into a viable NHL d-man.

Ty Wishart, acquired from the Islanders in the Dwayne Roloson trade, will play the remainder of the season with the big club.  No problem with that, as Bridgeport is also not going to be playing the playoffs this season.

Congrats to former coach Scortt Gordon, who is now the head coach of Team USA in the World Championships in Slovakia next month.

Trevor Gillies has seved the final game of his 10 game suspension, and is ready to return to the lineup.  The question is, will he?

In sixty games this season, he scored four goals and 23 assists and recorded a +9.  He also had a team high 23:24 of ice time per game.
