The player we got for Dwayne Roloson, a former first round pick, has the potential to be a good piece to a defensive puzzle for the Islanders.
But I am not convinced of that happening.
Honestly, a lot of first round players have a difficult time making the transition from AHL’er to NHL’er. There were moments in the season, that he made some contributions. But unfortunately – he looked as lost as a puppy dog many times.
He can be a good player, and I think with the right training and discipline, he can be that. He has good size, and you can not teach that. It was not his fault that he had to be brought up so early, due to the injury shuffle. But in his case, his stock did not fit the team like a Travis Hamonic this season, or an Andrew MacDonald of last season.
I will give him a C- for now. Seasoning will bring this grade up next season, if he is up.
John will give his review on him next. Then we go after Trent Hunter and Bruno Gervais with our next reviews. That should be fun….
