Isles get Erhoff rights – potential solidification of defense

By Gary Harding

Isles get the rights to potential Free Agent Christian Erhoff from the President winning Vancouver Canucks for a draft pick.  Isles have until Friday to lock him up on a deal.

Erhoff, currently in Germany has not offically spoken to Garth Snow, but the GM expects to talk to him today.

The Isles would now have a very solid defensive corps with Mark Streit, Mark Eaton, Mike Mottau, Andrew MacDonald, and Milan Jurcina locked in, along with Travis Hamonic.  That would make seven defensemen on the club.  This would give the Wishart’s and deHaan’s time to develop.  Looks now like Jack Hillen is gone.

I especially liked the way Erhoff played in the playoffs this season for Vancouver.  He was asked to step up due to some injuries and suspensions and he did just that.  I think he would be a nice fit for the Isles.

More to come.
