New York Islanders To Open Camp In Brooklyn

The New York Islanders will open training camp officially tomorrow with player physicals but Thursday is the real show.

Approximately 60 players will take to the ice in two sessions at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, but not before an entire media event is planned around the team, coaches and facility.

See below for the details as released to the media and public shortly afterwards about the events:

Schedule for Media Day on September 12, 2013:

8:15 a.m.: Press Conference at Garden City Station with LIRR representatives and Islanders General ManagerGarth Snow and Islanders players Matt Martin and Frans Nielsen

8:51 a.m.: Train carrying Islanders and media leaves Garden City station

9:35 a.m.: Team arrival, photo-op outside of the arena

9:40 a.m.: Team photo-op outside arena on Daily News Plaza

10 a.m. – 11 a.m.: Bruce Ratner and Brett Yormark to lead media on a tour of hockey set-up at Barclays Center

10:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.: Group A on ice.

11:45 a.m. – Live stream of practice begins on IslandersTV and www.barclayscenter.com.

12 p.m.: Lunch is available in the Honda Club

12 p.m. – 1 p.m.: Group B on ice

1:20 p.m. – 1:40 p.m.: Charles Wang, Garth Snow, Jack Capuano available for questions in the Ortsbo Interview Room

Islanders TV and Barclayscenter.com will begin a live stream of the camp at 11:45am for your viewing pleasure. There is still no word on whether the pre-season matchup against the New Jersey Devils on September 21 will be televised. As of this time, it is only scheduled to be broadcast on WHRU 88.7 FM Radio Hofstra University.
