I’m a firm believer that Tuesday’s are the worst day of the week. What makes them even worse is staying up late to watch the Islanders lose. Lose is exactly what they did as the New York Islanders fell 5-2 to the Anaheim Ducks for their 10th straight loss.

With the difficult road trip continuing in San Jose and ending Thursday in Phoenix, there haven’t been many takeaways from this trip. The Islanders are back at it tonight as they take on Evgeni Nabokov‘s former team in the San Jose Sharks.

Speaking of Evgeni Nabokov, although his return and start are most likely slated for Thursday’s game against the Coyotes, there is a chance the Sharks see their old netminder in goal tonight. Whether Nabokov’s return comes tonight or Thursday, his presence in net and the locker room have greatly been missed.

In other Islanders related news, Pierre-Marc Bouchard was placed on waivers yesterday morning. If another team claims Bouchard or if he simply clears waivers, the move will create an open roster spot in the big club, which will be filled by the team’s most touted prospect: Ryan Strome. Some fans love the move, others hate it. Regardless of where you stand, changes have been made which will hopefully remove the Islanders from their funk and kick the team into gear.

As stated previously, the Sound Tigers will be without their superstar and two week in a row CCM/AHL Player of the Week. Ryan Strome will join the Islanders in the middle of their road trip in San Jose. When he gets his first start with the team has yet to be announced.
