New York Islanders Tweets Of The Week

It’s that time of the week again. With the new year past us and everyone settling back at their offices all around the country, possibly getting ready for the monotony that is sure to set in, we take a look back at the week that was on social media.
#Islestwitter is probably our least favorite subject to discuss here on these pages as well as on our weekly podcast but we do anyway. Most of the time it’s frustrating but does have its moments of award winning quotes, comments and downright ridiculous assumptions that make us all chuckle.
Monday night at the Nassau Coliseum, the Islanders routed the Dallas Stars 7-3 in a game that featured a number of important milestones. Captain John Tavares with a five point performance passed 300 career points, Ryan Strome collected his first National Hockey League goal, Calvin de Haan his first two NHL points and Matt Donovan returned to the lineup and led all players in Corsi and Fenwick advanced statistics.
Not to mention Peter Regin (remember him?) scoring his first goal in 33 games to break out of a dreadful slump that has some questioning his very place on the roster.
Now I don’t know if this recent stretch of play is enough to get the Islanders into the playoffs should they continue it (probably not) or if it will save Jack Capuano‘s job in the summer (more likely). But it did provide some social media gold during the past week.
So, without further adieu, I present to you the Islanders tweets of the week.

The Islanders official account took a chance for a shot at the selection committee for the USA Olympic hockey team.
#Isles @bookerT2116, you've proven your world class talent all year. Shame the hard work wasn't recognized, but #Isles fans believe in you

#islestwitter has not learned many lessons, according to Connor over at Isles Blog. And you know what? Connor is right.
It's crazy, all the people who tweeted 'we suck' and 'it's over' when it was 0-2 are all loving this lead now.
