What a great time to be a fan of the National Hockey League. As we enter the second half of the schedule there are tons of interesting side stories brewing in the league’s kitchen.

The 2014 Sochi Olympics are coming up in February, providing fans with a 2 1/2 week break to check out international competition at its highest level. Teams have found or lost their groove and are battling hard for playoff position. The trade deadline comes in March. If you cannot get interested at this point, golf or bowling might serve you better to pass the time.

The Islanders continue to play their best hockey of the 2013-14 season, winning their 7th straight road game in Dallas last night. They are 8-2-0 in their last ten, however have not been able to make up much ground in the Eastern conference, as many other teams have similarly found their mojo as well.

But we are seeing a glimpse into the future with Calvin de Haan, Brock Nelson, Ryan Strome, Matt Donovan and Kevin Poulin all offering hope for a future that all of a sudden, looks so bright I have to wear shades.

On the national front, the NHL on NBC Sunday returns this week and I have to be honest, it is one of the highlights of my weekend.

So sit back and enjoy….below you can find your local and network listings for the week of January 13, 2014.
