Welcome to New York Islanders GIFS of the Week, a weekly post dedicated to highlighting some of the best goals, saves, hits, and celebrations.

The past week in Islanders hockey resembled the “Wonkavator” from the 1971 film “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.” Like the Wonkavator, no one really ever knew which way the team was going: forward, backwards, sideways, or slantways. However, they managed to pick up four out of a possible eight points (1/11/14-1/18/14), all while pulling out a few more thrillers and come from behind victories.

With that being said, here are a few of the more notable highlights from the past week:

Fresh on the power play, Frans Nielsen finds Thomas Vanek right off the draw to tie the game in Tampa:

Brian Strait rips a howitzer from the point and beats Ray Emery with a little help from the post:
