Anders Lee Recalled from Bridgeport

In the two games since Mikhail Grabovski suffered a concussion, it has seemed as if the Islanders offense has lacked something. They attempted to replace him with veteran forward Colin McDonald, which everyone knew wasn’t going to work. But this morning when the Islanders placed McDonald on waivers, every Islander fan knew what was coming and that was the recall of 24 year old prospect Anders Lee from Bridgeport. The Islanders announced officially just a short while ago that he had been recalled.
Lee had a very solid camp but was cut, according to Islanders head coach Jack Capuano, because of the “numbers game.” Lee has responded to this slight in resounding fashion. In just five games down with the Sound Tigers, the Notre Dame product has tallied three goals and two assists. Now he joins the Islanders for his third stint in the NHL, where has posted 16 points (10 goals, 6 assists) in 24 games over the past two seasons.
According to Brett Cyrgalis of the New York Post, Lee is expected to be in the lineup tomorrow night when the Islanders take on the Bruins in Boston. The most interesting thing will be to see what forward slot Lee slides into tomorrow night. I would hypothesize that Lee would be paired with former Bridgeport teammates Ryan Strome and Brock Nelson on what would be a second line for New York. It would be great to see Lee perform and stay with the Islanders for the long term, but with Mikhail Grabovski expected to return from injury fairly shortly, the Islanders may have to waive someone on a one way contract to keep him here.
The Islanders take on the Boston Bruins tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. Stay tuned right here for in depth analysis as the Isles look to snap their two game losing streak.
