Five Reasons For the Islanders Early Season Success

5. An Even Keeled Emotional Approach

A major reason for the Islanders success thus far has certainly been a very even emotional approach that has been preached by head coach Jack Capuano from day one. Whether the team has lost or won a game, Capuano’s post game remarks are the same, he expects even more from this team and his players expect more from themselves. This approach may seem to be somewhat unrealistic, but it will keep the team from getting comfortable and as a result they will constantly push for even more.
At this point in time, Capuano seems to have full control over the locker room and he has pushed all of the right buttons with his guys. Nearly every time he has switched up the lines the team seems to have benefited in some way from it. For once it seems as if the team does not get down on themselves after surrendering a goal, thus leading to the end of the all to frequent third period collapse. No matter what happens from this point forward, the Islanders will need to continue to take this emotional approach if they wish to continue this hot start.
