The Islanders returned from the All Star break today and let’s just say the second half of the season isn’t going quite as well as the first.
Jack Capuano announced today that first line winger Kyle Okposo will miss six-eight weeks with an upper body injury. Okposo currently sits at 13th in the league with 44 points on the season and is ninth in the league in assists with 30. The six to eight week marker placed on his injury takes us to somewhere around Mid-March so you’d have to figure he will return with around ten games to play and should be back in the swing of things by the playoffs.
The obvious question now shifts to who will replace Okposo on All Star Center John Tavares’ wing? Today Tavares skated with Bailey on his left and Mikhail Grabovski on his right. Grabovski had missed a handful of games before the break with an injury.
