TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie reported that Jiri Tlusty is expected to be dealt from the Carolina Hurricanes after failing to come to terms on a contract extension. The twenty-six year-old winger, has compiled only 20 points in 46 games, but is playing on a weak team in Carolina.

Tlusty, who came to Carolina in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs, has spent the past 6 six years with the Canes. Tlusty enjoyed success during the lockout-shortened season, totaling 38 points in 48 games.

With Kyle Okposo and Michael Grabner out due to injury, the Islanders can certainly use depth at wing and as a rental, Tlusty would fit the bill. Although Colin McDonald is playing well, it is unknown if he can sustain his current level of play. Tlusty would fit in on any line and is capable of putting up solid numbers. A couple of mid-level prospects and a draft pick may get it done.
