Dante Fabbro

Age: 17
Size: 6’0”/190lbs
Position: D
Points: 67

If we had our way in the draft Dante Fabbro would likely be our pick. Assuming teams ahead of us don’t beat us to the punch. The 17-year-old is the type of player that any franchise needs.

He’s an offensively minded defenseman that is already being compared to Tyson Barrie of the Colorado Avalanche. His 67 points placed him third in scoring on his Penticton Vees team of the BCHL.

Fabbro’s ability to exit the zone with the puck to start plays are a skill very few players have, yet alone excel at. Players like Barrie, Erick Karlsson, and P.K. Subban all have one thing in common. It’s their ability to start plays out of their own end.

Every team needs that type of player. A quarterback such as a defender capable of exiting the zone and setting up plays, Fabbro is that type of player.

Next: No Worries About Ryan Strome

Like some of the other players on the list, he’s still young. At 17-years-old, he’s still going to need a few more years to refine some aspects of his game before he can apply them on the big stage.

But much of the heavy lifting is done already. His instinct to get the play going the other way is a skill that can’t be taught easily.
