New York Islanders GM Garth Snow didn’t make a move on Wednesday.  But imagine for a second if he did. And one of those big names headed this way instead. What would the headlines say….

The New York Islanders didn’t acquire Steven Stamkos, PK Subban, Taylor Hall, Shea Weber, Adam Larsson, or anyone else from the Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2028 this week. Instead, the Islanders front office was as lifeless as Bernie from that weekend at Bernie’s flick. But if they, boy, if only they had, I would have been ready.

Imagine for just a second if they had. What if the Islanders would have been able to lure Steven Stamkos away from the sunny beaches of Florida. Or given Edmonton the blue-chip defenseman they want, but didn’t yet acquire. What if?But if they, boy, if only they had, I would have been ready.

Maybe we found a way to get Subban to come to Brooklyn instead of Nashville. Who wants to see shows at the Grand ol’ Opry when you can enjoy the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Or the other hundreds of music venues in Brooklyn. If music’s his thing. If not…well Nashville ain’t the town for Subban.

Or maybe we make a play for Weber and his seemingly never-ending contract. Maybe we find a way to get that 30-year-old, but feels like he’s 40 Weber to come here. What do we have to do?

If the Isles somehow found a way, boy, if only they had, I would have been ready.

Next: Taylor Hall
