Mikkel Boedker

Position: Left Wing

Points: 51

Power-play points: 19

Another speedy Dane to make this list, he is not quite as multi-tooled as Frans Nielsen but certainly would add scoring depth. In reality, this signing is an extreme backup in case the Isles can’t acquire a more desired free agent to fill the top line.

His consistent point production would add needed scoring if the Islanders can’t sign anyone better. He is both effective at even strength and on the power-play. But what Mikkel Boedker really has to offer is his youth.

He is one of the youngest unrestricted free agents available at the ripe age of 26. If the Isles can find a way to lock him up long term for cheap money this signing will add boom for the buck.

With Nielsen on the fence of staying or leaving, Boedker would be a brilliant signing to replace Nielsen in terms of point production and style of play. He wouldn’t be the best fit for the top line, but would be fantastic to serve as a filler for the hole Nielsen may leave.

If the Isles can’t sign someone better than him to play on the first line, then buckle up Isles fans… we’re in for a tough year. Regardless, Boedker’s signing would be very effective for the Islanders. His style of play can add quality speed and scoring if New York struggles to find offense elsewhere.
