New York Islanders Daily Links: Free Agency Day One

A look around the web at the most recent New York Islanders news. Make Eyes On Isles your go to website for all things Islanders.
Day one of free agency was a hectic day for the Islanders. They lost three players; Frans Nielsen, Kyle Okposo and Matt Martin. They signed Jason Chimera and Andrew Ladd in attempt to replace Matt Martin and Kyle Okposo.
Andy Graziano writes how the Islanders roster began to change. The quote that stuck out to me from Andrew Ladd was:
"“I am looking forward to the challenge of helping this team get to the next level,” Ladd said. “And that’s a Stanley Cup. I wanted to be with a team that I think has a chance to win. Any team with John Tavares on it, the goaltending and the defense that the Islanders have, they are very close.”"
That’s very high praise from the former Stanley Cup champion. Although like Andy, I agree that Garth Snow is not done. I think he will pull of a trade to try to improve this team. Apparently Brock Nelson has drawn interest, and the Islanders certainly have the prospect depth to move someone as well.
Names like James Van Riemsdyk in Toronto, Evander Kane, Jordan Eberle, Gabriel Landeskog or Matt Duchene in Colorado come to mind in trade talks. Out of those names I would have the most interest in JVR or Eberle. Kane’s off the ice issues are a red flag for me.

Lighthouse Hockey claims that Garth Snow didn’t necessarily improve the team, because he made those moves out of necessity and they believe the youth will be heavily relied upon once again (Lighthouse Hockey)

Bleacher Report mentioned how Ladd has always been a secondary player and has played that role nicely over his career. With John Tavares that would be a good fit (Bleacher Report)
