The Islanders made a good depth signing yesterday bringing back PA Parenteau. Parenteau originally played 2 years with the Islanders, the 2010-2011 season and 2011-2012 season. He signed a 1 year $1.25 million contract yesterday.

Arthur Staple writes how PA always expected to come back to “Long Island” to play. A big reason why he signed was due to the major improvements the team had compared to when he was here the first time.

In Parenteau’s first stint with the Islanders he showed good chemistry playing with John Tavares. Coming off a 20 goal season last year Jack Capuano may look to rekindle the old chemistry.

In his two years with the Islanders he put up 53 and 67 points mainly playing with John Tavares and Matt Moulson. They were by far the best two years of his career.

The hope is that even at 33 years old some of that old chemistry could come back. If he were to play a long side of Ladd and Tavares I think you could expect a 40 point season out of him.

Even if his role is smaller I expect decent numbers from him. He put up 20 goals last year on a weak Toronto team. It’s not out of the question to expect him in that 35-40 point range.
