It’s really no secret that the Islanders are built around John Tavares. It was made so evident in Game 6 of the Panthers series when he put the team on his back and willed the Islanders into the second round.

When ESPN wrote this I didn’t even bat an eye. It’s what they wrote deep in the article that glared at me the most. A few Eastern Conference GM’s did not agree with Garth’s moves.

"“he wasn’t a big fan” of the moves. “Ladd 7 yrs is crazy. Lost better players to UFA. “"

That was a GM’s response to Joe McDonald who wrote the article. I think a lot of people that I talked to feel that way. I definitely think the Islanders were looking to go in another direction, and you could argue that Kyle Okposo has peaked already.

With Ladd, I think he adds some veteran leadership and he knows what it takes to win. The underrated factors of Johnny Boychuk, Nick Leddy and now Andrew Ladd is that they’ve been there and done that before.

If Garth is done now then it’s a bad off season, but if he makes a trade then I understand the direction Snow is trying to go.

Brian Erni was the voice of reason to this argument. He says that it is still too early to tell if it was a good or bad off season for the Islanders.  (SNY)
