Oct. 27th: Revenge is a Dish Best Served Cold

On October 27th the Islanders visit the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins for the first time since that embarrassing 5-0 loss back in April.

It was all smiles then for the Penguins. They outplayed us in every facet of the game. And humbled us right at the end of the season. It was a tough to pill to swallow right before the start of the post-season.

J-F Berube stopped 28 shots on 33 for a terrible .848 save percentage on the night. We went 0/5 on the power-play, even letting a short-handed goal in. We even went 2/3 on the man disadvantage. It was just a terrible game.

Just look at the boxscore. We were outshot,  we gave away the puck more, and had the puck take away more. The only thing we did well was faceoff wins. We won 47 of 72 draws.

But by the time the puck drops on the 27th we’ll have had six months to tinker with the roster, better our strategy and to get over the embarrassment.

On the 27th the Islanders are going to want to show the Penguins that April 2nd, 2016 was nothing but a fluke.
