The New York Islanders had a busy offseason this year. Some familiar faces are no longer with us, but the Islanders brought in some new players to replace those who left. The question is are they good enough as is?

Brian Erni thinks so, that is once they re-sign Ryan Strome. Erni says it’s not bad to stay at the level that they have the last two years because they’ve been a 100 point team the past two years.

The Islanders took a big step with their first round series win against the Panthers. They have to build off that. The team needs to get to at least the conference final in order to see growth in the right direction.

A first round exit or god forbid missing the playoffs would show regression, while a second round loss would show stagnant growth. The Islanders have the tools to make a deep playoff run, it’s a matter of execution now.
