A look around the web at the most recent New York Islanders news. Make Eyes On Isles your go to website for all things Islanders.

The Islanders prospect that people think could make the team this year is Mathew Barzal. The issue is that the Islanders have a crowded forward group, so it’s a matter of where Barzal would fit in with the Islanders.

Barzal is also more of a playmaker as opposed to a shooter. Is that really the best thing for where he would slot in?

Most likely Barzal would be the third line center playing with the likes of Shane Prince, Josh Bailey or Nikolai Kulemin. Can we count on them to finish if Barzal is the plamaker?

There’s not a lot of room left for growth. It’d probably be best if Barzal made the team to add more quality forwards to the group. It depends on how he does in camp, but if he has a strong camp like he did last year he should make the team.
