New York Islanders Longest Serving Members in Franchise History

Mike Bossy
Appearances: 752, 6th
Draft: 15th, 1977 (NY Islanders) Status: Hall of Fame
Points: 1126 (573G, 553A)
Three Lady Byng trophy’s, one Smythe Trophy, a Calder Trophy and four Stanley Cups all have Mike Bossy’s name on it. He’s one of five players to score 50 goals in 50 games, and he’s all ours.
Bossy, unfortunately, left the game early due to back issues. But in his ten seasons with the Islanders and in the league, he lit the league on fire. Bossy never scored less than 75 points, and that was in his final year where he only played 38 games.
What Bossy gave us was awe-inspiring. Taken 15th overall means that a number of teams are kicking themselves for passing up on him.
No one in his draft class comes close to his 1126 points. Teammate John Tonelli is the closest with 836 career NHL points.
Bossy is a legend, and he did it all wearing the New York Islanders crest. There are still a few more players to look at, but his contributions will likely never be replicated.
