New York Islanders captain John Tavares scored the game tying goal which led to Team Canada’s overtime win. Team Russia scored two unanswered goals in the third period before Tavares’ 14 minutes into the period which tied the game.

Tavares has three goals in three games so far. He picked up where he left off when he carried the Isles in the playoffs.

Team Canada’s roster is loaded. They are the clear cut favorites to win this thing. It’s amazing to see how well JT is playing with this star cast. He’s the kind of player that makes others around him better but he really seems to be feeding off Canada’s other talented forwards as well.

Hopefully Andrew Ladd and P.A. Parenteau will be enough for Tavares to work with
