New York Islanders Daily: Training Camp Opens
A look around the web at the most recent New York Islanders news. Make Eyes On Isles your go to website for all things Islanders.
As training camp opens for the New York Islanders it signifies the true start of the season. All the offseason bologna is over with and now it is time to focus on the product on the ice. The question is can the Islanders build off their successful season last year?
Did the Islanders do enough in free agency to cover their losses? This can be debated to the end of time, heck we debated it on here since July 2nd.
The Islanders did get a lot of veteran leadership. Last season the Islanders were banking on youth to take the next step. Anders Lee, Brock Nelson and Ryan Strome all either were stagnant or regressed.

The addition of veterans should hopefully settle things down a bit when it comes to the forward situation and the ever changing lines. The Islanders brought in people with playoff experience and people who have won before.
So to answer the question, yes they can build off of last season. They should be better.
