Andrew Ladd decided to join the New York Islanders when he hit free agency at the July 1st deadline. Brian Compton writes that he was happy to join the team.

Not only was the thought of playing alongside John Tavares part of the reason for his decesion, but Ladd also liked the area itself. A player with a family liked the idea of coming to Long Island? What a concept.

Ladd said that when he would come to play the Islanders all he ever saw of LI was the Marriott and the Coliseum. So I could understand players not thinking much of Long Island if that’s all they knew of it.

Bringing in Ladd was big for the Islanders. They knew Kyle Okposo was leaving, so they had to do their best to replace that scoring. Hopefully Ladd is able to compensate for the loss of Okposo’s offense and Frans Nielsen‘s defense.
