New York Islanders Daily: Isles Win First Preseason Game
A look around the web at the most recent New York Islanders news. Make Eyes On Isles your go to website for all things Islanders.
The New York Islanders beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-0 in the preseason opener. Only a handful of players with NHL experience played, but it allowed for both teams look at what they had with their youth.
The Islanders youth flourished. Both goaltenders J.F. Berube and Christopher Gibson combined for a shutout.
Shane Prince broke the scoring as he was able to sneak one by Anthony Stolarz at 4:28 into the third. The next goal would give Islanders fans hope for the future. Josh Ho-Sang scored on a nice setup from Mathew Barzal.
Then Michael Dal Colle added an empty netter. Mathew Barzal has a real chance of making the team, Ho-Sang due to inexperience will probably start the season in Bridgeport but the talent is certainly there.
There were even a couple of fights from Ryan Strome, and Shane Prince as they dropped the gloves. Ultimately it’s only a preseason game, but there were some great positives coming from this game.
