A look around the web at the most recent New York Islanders news. Make Eyes On Isles your go to website for all things Islanders.

Newsday’s Arthur Staple did a New York Islanders mailbag, where people could ask him questions on twitter and he would answer them in his column. There were some very interesting questions and answers.

There was some repetition with the questions and answers so I’m just going to summarize the key points for you.

Staple thinks the only “surprise” making the roster will be Mathew Barzal. That means no Michael Dal Colle or Josh Ho-Sang, I agree with Staple on this one, There was also a question if the Isles were in play for a top 6 forward.

Staple said that Nikita Kucherov could be available but is unsure if the Lightning would be willing to deal him even if that means they could escape cap hell.

Finally, someone asked about John Tavares‘ contract which is expected to be negotiated after the season. He expects it to be about 8-years with a $9.5-10 million AAV. Those numbers sound about right.
