A look around the web at the most recent New York Islanders news. Make Eyes On Isles your go to website for all things Islanders.

Going into camp the New York Islanders prospect that was most likely going to make the team was Mathew Barzal. After being a healthy scratch for game one, there’s a chance he plays tonight to make his NHL debut.

That’s what Islanders coach Jack Capuano said, “There’s a chance” when asked if Barzal will play today.

The other rookie to make the team, Anthony Beauvillier struggled initially through the first two periods of his NHL debut. In the third he settled in and looked much better notching an assist for his first NHL point.

It doesn’t make a lot of sense to have these rookies up here if they aren’t going to play. They have nine games to decide if they want to keep them or send them back to Juniors. Hopefully one of, if not both of them, prove that they belong.

On Thursday night the Islanders offense had the same problems similar to 2015-16. The only two lines that created chances were the first and fourth lines. The Isles need help from their middle six forwards and hopefully it’s one of these rookies that step up.
