The Islanders first-line needs to contribute production wise. Between Andrew Ladd and John Tavares the two only have a single point. Just one.

Why they aren’t able to click is anyone’s guess. But the production speaks for itself. I have a hard time picking on Jason Chimera, the 37-year-old doesn’t seem to have lost the proverbial step.

He’s quick and physical. Everything the Islanders wanted out of him but it just doesn’t seem to be working alongside Ladd and Tavares. So then who takes his spot?

Josh Bailey had some success on that top spot, but let’s be honest Josh Bailey isn’t a long term solution. I reserve the right to stand corrected should Bailey show he can keep up and produce over the long-run. But his career trajectory so far doesn’t give me a whole lot of faith.

If the Islanders are all in on this youth revolution then why not give Anthony Beauvillier a shot? The 19-year-old has been fantastic in pre-season and in his first game for the team in the regular season against the Rangers.

He’s young and therefore inexperienced, but he’s an outstanding attacking talent. It almost seems irresponsible to not give it a try at this point.
