New York Islanders Hold On To Win Against Coyotes (Highlights)

The New York Islanders were able to hold on and beat the Arizona Coyotes by a score of 3-2. Here’s how they got there:

The New York Islanders were rolling through the first thirteen minutes of the first period. Dennis Seidenberg opened up the scoring with his first goal of the season, and his first since February!

Then Ryan Strome netted one thirteen and a half minutes into the period to give the Islanders the two goal lead. Mr and Mrs. Strome were in attendance cheering on both their sons and even saw one of them score a goal, all was well in the world.

That is until the Islanders blew a two goal lead in a span of 51 seconds. Goals from Brad Richardson and Radim Vrbata got the Coyotes right back in this game.

The Islanders faced a bit of a scare health wise. Ryan Pulock was called up for Nick Leddy who is day to day. After logging under four minutes of ice time Pulock headed for the dressing room and would not return. It was announced as a lower body injury and the news isn’t good.

After a wild first period things began to calm down in the second. Nobody scored, but it looked like the Islanders were getting more chances.

Andrew Ladd, although still unable to score his first goal of the season looked much better. He had a number of chances that just would not find twine.

In the third Johnny Boychuk scored a short handed goal, the first of his career, to break the tie. It looked like this:

That gave the Isles a 3-2 lead and they would hold on to that score for the rest of the way.

Overall it was good for the Islanders to get back to the winning ways but it came at a price. Losing Pulock long term would really stink, especially depending on Leddy’s injury. The power play is still bad, the penalty kill is still good and #IslesTwitter is forever crazy. Just a regular night after an Isles win.
